Presque Isle River

A nice drive north of Wakefield takes you to the western end of the Porcupine Mountains. There is a beautiful river called the Presque Isle that leads to Lake Superior. The waves of the "Big Lake" had deposited some great driftwood along the shore.

Black River Gorge

On a drive north of Bessemer there are trails that lead back to some wonderful falls along the Black River. The river eventually flows into Lake Superior. If you visit western Upper Peninsula, you have to see the falls of the Black River and the suspension bridge that leads to the beach on the "Big Lake."

Vacation Time in the Upper Peninsula

I had a wonderful time last week visiting my daughter Amy, her husband Mike, and their son Nathan. Amy took me and Nathan on day trips to see the colors on the trees in the U. P. What beauty the Lord God has made. Here is a picture of my grandson and me by Golden Lake, just north of US highway 2 between Iron River and Watersmeet.

Binder Park Zoo

Cindy, Luke, Amy, Nathan, and I enjoyed a day at the zoo this summer. Especially exciting was seeing the giraffes. I would highly recommend Binder Park Zoo to anyone who is stopping by Battle Creek.

One more before I have to go.

This spring we celebrated Mother's Day with Cindy's parents coming over, as well as our daughter Amy, her husband Mike, and their son Nathan. Cindy Lou is always thinking of things she'd like to do, so she and Amy went and got themselves some bubble teas.

Summer has ended, but we have the memories.

Ah, the memories... Please enjoy this picture of the lighthouse taken in June of last year.

Winter is coming!!!

Now that fall is here, we have to think about what comes next. So a photo of winter in South Haven might help to get your prepared.

I had been visiting my grandson Nathan and his parents Amy and Mike and was ready to head back to Portage. Mike suggested that I swing by the lighthouse and take some pictures. I'm glad he suggested that.

Monday, and it's raining.

It's Monday morning, and I'm trying out my blog again. I want to upload a picture or two which I took this spring. So here goes...
Ah, there you have it. This picture is of my nephew Mark Voss and his parents David and Laurie. He graduated from our prep school in Saginaw.
More pictures to come!!!

Starting Out

Hey everyone: Since my daughter can do it, I thought I'd try, too. So I'm starting my own blog. Of course, Amy's blog is much more interesting, for she lives in the U.P. But I love taking pictures, and when I learn how to upload my photos on this blog, I'll share them with you.

Now if I can just figure out how to access my son James' blog...
